Description
Wat Tham Khao Wong is a Buddhist temple in tambon Ban Rai of the Ban Rai District of the province of Uthai Thani, Thailand, near the border with Suphan Buri Province. Built in 1987, it has a two-storey Thai-style convocation hall, and the area has been exquisitely landscaped. There are a number of caves to the rear of the temple.
Feature
The structure contains several levels, and integrates wonderfully with the mountainside where it sits. The temple front features a lake with a wide variety of fish, and the entire structure is placed in a blossoming garden. The beauty of the place is hard to describe in words. Behind the temple, there are several caves where the monks can meditate.
History
It’s not the typical temple you would have in mind if you think about a Thai temple. It’s completely made of wood. It reminds me of a local temple where no tourists would go to. Inside it is clearly made for shorter people. I’m not tall at all and I managed to bump my head against the ceiling. Wat Tham Khao Wong is sober on the inside, but that’s quite charming about it. I have the feeling the park around the temple is build to attract tourists. Wat Tham Khao Wong is surrounded by beautiful nature. You can clearly see this park is created by man. It is not naturally, but it’s beautiful anyway. It is really worth the visit!
